The RC Hobby

The Radio Control Hobby By Robert E Robeson

"The family that plays together stays together"

While I do believe this to be a true statement there is also the
need for solitude and self fulfillment.

How can both statements be true and how can the RC Hobby fit
both categories?

To get a better insight into this, we first need to get to know
the many facets of the RC Hobby.

RC stands for Radio Control, some say Remote Control. The
difference being that a Radio is used for Radio control and joy
sticks, wires, strings etc are used in remote control. And it
does not matter what is being controlled. However for this
article we will use RC as to mean Radio Control and to control
Toys of some type.

While there are many things controlled by some kind of Radio
(Transmitter) from the military to medical and commercial uses
we will confine our discussion to the RC Hobby.

So Just what is the RC Hobby? Well I am glade you asked.

The hobby is made up of 4 main categories but is in no way
limited to them.

Those 4 categories are: * RC Airplanes: including Sailplanes,
UFO's, Blimps and other flying objects. * RC Boats, Now these
come in fuel power, electric power, sail and submarines. * RC
Cars come in more sizes and shapes than most us can imagine.
Cars, Trucks, Buggies, Tanks, ATVs, Bulldozers, RVs,
Motorcycles, Balls, (yep, Round balls) and the list goes on. *
RC Helicopters. From the very small (fits in the palm of your
hand) to the very large (full size helicopters setup to fly with
Radio control)

Other very popular areas are robots, trains, slot cars, spiders,
people etc.

So as a hobby you can pick what item you like. And many people
have multiples as there hobby. What I mean is someone may have
airplane, cars and helicopters, while other concentrate on just
the one like cars perfecting there hobby. Competetion!

Know matter which part of the hobby to like ground, air or
water, there are all levels, prices and help available.

Kits come in complete kit form where you put together every
single little item to ready to go where you take it out of the
box and go play.

Most items have a selection of power, like airplanes have
Sailplanes, electric, nito, diesel, and gas. Piston engine,
rotary, even jet engine are used so the imagination to the only
limit.

So get your family a bunch of simple cars and go play together,
start building you next project and see where it takes you.

Get your self a helicopter and have the best one on one you can
imagine. Either way it is great clean, wholesome fun that you
can enjoy by yourself or with the entire family.

Enjoy
